A closed-off kitchen reworked into one long working wall, a generous island and a proper pantry tower.
The owners wanted the light of a sunroom without losing the feel of being outside, so the whole garden elevation is retractable glass. Closed, it is a bright, fully conditioned room. Open, it becomes a covered porch.
Exposed wood beams give the ceiling some weight against all that glazing, and the new brick was matched to the existing house closely enough that most people assume the room was always there.
